Deque creates responsive interim website for one of Europe's oldest and most renowned theatre festivals

Ruhrfestspiele Interim Website Mood

The Ruhrfestspiele in Recklinghausen are an important cultural event in the Ruhr area. The festival is visited annually by approx. 80,000 people from all over the world. With the beginning of Olaf Kröck's artistic direction, Deque was commissioned to realise the Ruhrfestspiele website. The complete website will go online at the beginning of 2019. In the meantime, a responsive interim website will serve visitors as a bundled information hub.

"The Ruhrfestspiele are one of the most popular festivals in Europe. In other words, many different people come to the Ruhrfestspiele with different expectations. (...) Here the question is important: How to convey enough in advance - without revealing everything. We are dealing with a thoroughly experienced audience. But they are not all art experts. (...) But the Internet is also important in reducing inhibitions. That's why we're completely reworking our Internet presence."

The Ruhrfestspiele logo and the basic elements of the corporate design were developed by Stefan Scheer of Agentur Scheer from Düsseldorf. For the omnipresent handlettering in the communication, the Scheer agency cooperated with the Düsseldorf based artist and illustrator Andreas Steinbrecher.
